Successful seminar

,

The virtual seminar on laminar/turbulent transition in hypersonic regime scheduled on 25 and 26 May 2021 by the HyFAR-ARA association has gathered more than 80 participants from France (CEA, MBDA, ArianeGroup, ONERA, ISAE, Institut P’…), United Kingdom (Southampton University), Germany (DLR, TU Münich), Belgium (VKI), Netherlands (ESA) and USA(NASA, Purdue University, University of Tennessee).

The organizing committee, composed of ArianeGroup, CEA, INRIA, ONERA and VKI members, decided to schedule this virtual meeting in view of the preparation of a future live symposium on the same topic.

10 specialists from the different participating countries have presented a state of the art of the domain under different point of views: industrial, modeling, numerical computation, ground and flight tests, vehicle design.

The HyFAR-ARA association is deeply grateful to the organizing committee and speakers whose dedication made this event a success.

The feedback from the participants shows that the symposium has been a real opportunity to address commonly shared questions on the subject, and it has highlighted the needs and difficulties encountered when assessing the transition to turbulence in the hypersonic regime.

This virtual seminar will finally be a source of inspiration for the preparation of a live meeting on the subject, which will be scheduled at the end of 2022 (date to be chosen by next summer).
