On March 29, 2021, the CNRS became the sixth member of the HyFAR-ARA association.

CNRS is a French multidisciplinary research organization, responsible for identifying, carrying out or commissioning research of interest to science as well as to the technological, social and cultural progress of the country.

With a budget of more than €3 billion, it employs 32,000 people in more than 11,000 laboratories in France and abroad [1].

Among these laboratories, several are directly interested in the subjects of atmospheric reentry and hypersonic vehicles which are at the heart of the activities of the HyFAR-ARA association.

Although this list is not exhaustive, we can in particular mention the following laboratories:

  • Institut de combustion, aérothermique, réactivité et environnement (Institute of combustion, aerothermics, reactivity and environment ) ICARE (UPR3021 – Orléans)
  • Institut P’ : Recherche et ingénierie en matériaux, mécanique et énergétique (Research and engineering in materials, mechanics and energy) – PPRIME (UPR3346 – Poitiers)
  • Laboratoire des sciences de l’ingénieur pour l’environnement (Laboratory of Engineering Sciences for the Environment) – LAsIE (UMR7356 – Université de La Rochelle)
  • Conditions extrêmes et matériaux : haute température et irradiation (Extreme conditions and materials: high temperature and irradiation) – CEMHTI (UPR3079 – Université d’Orléans)
  • Centre de biophysique moléculaire (Center for Molecular Biophysics ) – CBM (UPR4301 – Orléans)
  • Laboratoire de physique et chimie de l’environnement et de l’espace (Laboratory of physics and chemistry of the environment and space) – LPC2E (UMR7328 – Université d’Orléans et CNES)
  • Institut de chimie des milieux et matériaux de Poitiers (Poitiers Institute of chemistry of media and materials ) – IC2MP (UMR7285 – Université de Poitiers)
