FAR 2025: opening session

Today Monday May 19th 2025  is the official opening day of the conference. The morning session was the subject of several addresses by personalities.

Mr Jeroen Van den Eynde[1] started the session on behalf of ESA. He was followed by Mr Patrice Beunard, Deputy Mayor of Arcachon, who welcomed the audience and wished the best success for the conference.

Then Dr. Pierre-Henri Maire, President of HyFAR-ARA association which is one of the conference’s sponsors and acted as local organizing team for the benefit of ESA, presented the association, its missions and its actions.

Dr. Olivier Vacus, Scientific Director of CEA/DAM, which is co-organizer and also one of the sponsors of the conference, then made a presentation where he expressed how fundamental and technological research in general, and in the field of atmospheric re-entry in particular, is paramount for CEA missions.

 

 

Mr Alain Rousset, President of Nouvelle Aquitaine Region, and René Kleessen[2] of DLR concluded the conference by addressing the audience via video.
